(EACF) Supports the Peaceful and Successful
Conclusion of the 2010 Ethiopian Election
First, EACF
would like to thank and congratulate you, the Ethiopian people, for exercising
your democratic rights to vote in high-turn out, in a peaceful and free
election. We strongly believe that you proved unequivocally that you want
peace, prosperity and democracy, and no amount of external force will take away
your choice.
Second, EACF
would like to take this opportunity to commend the National Electoral Board of
Ethiopia (NEBE) for conducting a peaceful, professional and fair election
process. You have made us proud.
Third, EACF
commends both the African Union Observer Mission and the Ethiopian Civil
Society Organizations for their integrity and unwavering stand against all
forms of western political pressures.
Fourth, EACF
would like to express its disappointment with some of the Western medias, the EU-Observer mission, the few vocal extremist
Diasporas and some so-called NGO organizations like the Human rights Watch, for
their constant meddling and unwarranted destructive and destabilizing rhetoric.
The people of Ethiopia have spoken; they expect respect for their decision.
Fifth, EACF
would like to acknowledge and admire the peaceful role and civilized behaviors
exhibited by EPRDF and most of the political opposition parties. EACF would
like to call up on MEDREK, AEUP, as well as the few extremist Diaspora elements
to learn from these opposition parties, and we suggest they refrain from their
destructive and destabilizing stand (propaganda).
Finally, we
support EPRDF’s willingness to work with the opposition to strengthen the
democratization process, and we encourage the opposition to reciprocate the
offer (in-deed) for the good of our people. Together we will have a prosperous
and democratic Ethiopia.
